I am not Your Inspiration, Thank You Very Much: a TED talk by Stella Young

Updated: May 9

Ms. Young reminds us that there are many things in this world from which we can derive real inspiration and that the mere fact of someone having a disability is not one of them. She gives a humorous and thought provoking talk on TED in which she shares her views on how our perceptions of having a disability color how people without disabilities see people with disabilities and how these perceptions can actually become a roadblock to real change. She concludes with the following statement: " Disability doesn't make you exceptional, but questioning what you think you know about it does." May we all question our perceptions of what it means to be considered disabled and how we all fit into this world.
